Workshops & Classes

“What a sublime workshop! Allison was so wonderful in creating a safe and welcoming space for exploration of movement and body.” - Kathy Slamen, workshop participant

Along with your typical Ballet and Modern dance classes, Allison Burns as teaches a gentle introduction to contemporary dance that she developed herself. It is designed for anyone who has been curious about the style, or movement in general. There is absolutely no dance experience required, just curiosity about what that brilliant body of yours can do!

The classes offer a refinement of basic contemporary dance technique, and a new way of thinking about movements and sensations. There is a focus on connecting to the entire body, drawing awareness and control and exploring a new relationship to the floor. The practice is largely based on improvisation. The skills taught here can be used in other forms of dance, and performing arts.
