New Choreographic Creation: We Three at the Alberta Dance Festival
Seeking contemporary dancers for an creation process with performance opportunity at the 37th Annual Alberta Dance Festival.
WHAT I am an Ottawa-based choreographer. I am seeking three female Calgary-based dancers for a contemporary dance trio with the working title, We Three. As the theme for the festival this year is "The Wild," my work will depict present day witches: a trio of strong, powerful women. We so rarely live in the moment these days. Women, in touch with their bodies, and the present moment, harness an eerie power. Through stage magic, exceptional dancing and theatrical choreography, we shall extend that power of presence and intuition to magical abilities.
Dancers will be asked to participate in a long-distance initial creative process that would amount to about 5-10 hours of commitment between April and August 2018. Dancers will participate in an intensive creation process from August 20th until the presentation of the work on the weekend of September 14-16, 2018 (approximately 20 hours a week). Dancers will be compensated for their participation in this project.
Please submit an artist CV outlining your performance experience as a dancer, an artistic statement outlining your motivations/interests as a performer (max 300 words), and a link to a video clip of you dancing. If you would like to provide more than one video example of you dancing, please list the links in order of most to least relevant. Email your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 30, 2018.
You are welcome to explore my website for further information about myself and my work. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
